Haddenham Ceilidhs (pronounced 'Kayleys') are similar to barn dances, but with that extra something! Dance displays and singers give good all round family entertainment. Top quality bands are used, and Hugh Rippon - rated by many as the best in the country - calls most of the dances. No previous experience is needed and two left feet need not be a handicap! Whether you're single, a couple or in a group, you are all welcome. Come along and enjoy yourself!
In addition to our monthly ceilidhs, you can enjoy our monthly acoustic concerts in the Walter Rose Room where top quality artists perform for you. The usual format (except on Haddenham Festival in December) is for our MC, Kitty Vernon of Herga and Sidmouth fame, to start the evening at 8.45pm and our guests to do a couple of 45 minute spots from 9pm. The room only seats 50 so make sure you're there in plenty of time to enjoy the entertainment.
The Festival in December is an extension of the monthly Ceilidhs and Acoustic Concerts and give you an unique opportunity to enjoy performances that cannot normally be seen at our regular monthly events. The day starts in the main hall at 4.00pm with Sing All Earth - A history of carolling. This show, a mixture of narrative and song, is full of unexpected, compelling and at times highly amusing historical detail and combines the incomparable a cappella voices of Coope, Boyes & Simpson, Fi Fraser, Jo Freya and Georgina Boyes. Following this in the Main Hall is a display from The Seven Champions Molly Dancers followed by the evening Ceilidh featuring Hugh Rippon calling for All Blacked Up.
And there are even more things happening in The Walter Rose Room with 2 short concerts featuring Bill Caddick and Paul Scourfield and to end the day's entertainment, the superlative Martin Simpson. Kitty Vernon will make sure all goes to plan.
If you cannot make the whole day, then why not just try one or two concerts, where individual tickets can be purchased. Pease read the Festival Details page for more information.
HVH is only available to us every other year, so don't miss the opportunity this year and make sure you bring in the new year in style by dancing and listening to Blackbeard's Tea Party, the young exciting band from Sheffield. Will Hall will be in charge and do not miss the "surprise intrusion" from Haddenham Mummers. Please see the booking form for more information.
You chance to join in - at 7.15pm most evenings - make it a great party!
Admission to the venue gives admission to all events for the evening and you can move from ceilidh to concert at your leisure.
